Tuesday, May 20th at 10PM Celebrity Mother and Daughter, Shannon & Sophie, take on the world and start a new chapter in their lives. Model, actor, and former playmate, Shannon Tweed married rock star Gene Simmons creating Rock and Roll’s original monarchy. Born into rock royalty, straight-laced Sophie Tweed-Simmons is Shannon’s loving daughter, best friend, and polar opposite. This diamond duo of Gene Simmons Family Jewels fame, are navigating the everyday challenges of celebrity life as Sophie spreads her wings to leave the nest, with Shannon flying closely and protectively behind. Sophie has her own charity, acting and music ambitions, and as she turns 21 and launches her life as an adult, she's moving out of her parent's home to blaze her own trail. As Sophie beats her new path, Shannon is only steps behind, ensuring that Sophie’s path leads in the right direction, and is wide enough for two. In their new series, this improbable pair demonstrate that when it comes to getting what they want, neither will take no for an answer, but despite their differences they remain best friends. 


Sophie Tweed-Simmons is an actress, and singer/songwriter living in Los Angeles. She is the 21-year-old daughter of Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed. She is most known for her role in Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels, a reality show starring the Tweed-Simmons Family that ran on A&E from 2006 - 2012. 

Now two years later, she stars with her mother in, "Shannon & Sophie" premiering on W Network. Sophie is currently acting in a number of independent films, and working on her passion project - writing a screenplay with her brother Nick Tweed-Simmons. She is signed as a developmental artist for Universal Music Canada and is working on an album in Nashville, Tennessee. Although she went to university for Religious Studies, Sophie has decided to work in philanthropy. She is the patron of her charity 'Sophie’s Place,' a child advocacy center in British Columbia. Sophie is also writing a book on body image for young women. 

Shannon Tweed was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, to Donald Keith Tweed, a mink rancher and Louise Tweed. She was raised near Whitbourne, Newfoundland where her father had the family ranch, until she was 11 years old. She has two younger sisters, Tracy and Sara, an older sister Kim, and three brothers Lance, Tarry and Jeff. After her father’s tragic car accident, her mother moved the family back to the prairies where her first 2 children were born, and Tweed attended Caroline Robins Elementary School and graduated from Mount Royal Collegiate in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Shannon became involved in beauty pageants at a young age. 

She moved east in 1978, she was Miss Ottawa Valley and the third runner-up in the Miss Canada Pageant. She won the Miss Canada talent competition for singing, and decided to live in Toronto before seeking fame and fortune in Hollywood. After the Canadian wish-fulfillment TV series Thrill of a Lifetime arranged for her to pose for Hugh Hefner’s Playboy, she was chosen to be the Playmate of the Month for the November 1981 issue and eventually the Playmate of the Year for 1982. 

Since then, Tweed has primarily acted in TV series such as the HBO comedy 1st and Ten, the prime-time soap opera Falcon Crest and guest appearances on Frasier, Married With Children, Wings, Dukes of Hazzard, Baywatch, 21 Jump Street, Dear John, Murder She Wrote, and United States Of Tara among many others. In 1985, she landed a role on Days of our Lives as Savannah Wilder, remaining with the show until 1987. Shannon co-starred with David James Elliot as air-service proprietor Sally “Slick” Monroe on the diverting Canadian TV adventure weekly Fly By Night, but before retiring from show biz to raise her kids, she co-starred with Oliver Hudson and Michael DesBarres in My Guide To Becoming A RockStar. 

Tweed has appeared in over 60 films, including Detroit Rock City, produced by Gene Simmons in 1999. In 2006, Tweed authored an autobiography, Kiss and Tell, published by Phoenix Press. After a brief relationship with Hugh Hefner, Tweed has lived with Gene Simmons of KISS since 1985. Their two children are Nicholas (born January 22, 1989) and Sophie (born July 7, 1992). The family members starred in a reality television show on A&E entitled Gene Simmons Family Jewels from 2006-2012, and Shannon now stars along side her daughter in her new reality series, "Shannon & Sophie" on W Network.

Gene Simmons and his wife Shannon Tweed have renewed their wedding vows in Hawaii.

The once-commitment shy rocker and the former Playboy Playmate exchanged vows in October 2011 and they did it all over again in Maui, Hawaii, last week.
